24 Aug A series of unfortunate events

okay this will be a short post. It was a long day today, we travelled from cinque terre to milan to venice.   we freaking got fined 5 euros because we forgot to validate the ticket. almost got fined 50 euros. but the 'act blur live longer' tactic seemed to have paid off. so lesson learnt, if you see a conductor, try to run away if you do not have a valid ticket. While waiting for our train to Milan, went to buy tickets for Venice to Vienna and wtf all the couchette tickets were sold out and had to settle for seated tickets. 11 hours! holy shit. If not for the sucky TrenItalia website, we would be on the 4p Couchette. But oh wells. It costs 20 Euros cheaper.

It seems that a 3hr transit in Milan wasn't enough. Milano Centrale was pretty cool with the symmetric semi-circular arch combined with the milanese architecture giving it a modern yet historic feel. We barely made the timing because we went to the Duomo di Milano. Bought metro tickets at the machine and got 2 euros stolen. Where was the all round defences guys. tsk. Apparently its the biggest Gothic Cathedral in Europe and the 3rd biggest cathedral in open classification. But i still think that the Duomo in florence has that effect that shrinks you in comparison to it, but this Duomo can fit 40k people (the population at that time) omg. We just went in, barely even walking towards the alter and quickly walked out in search for food. Lunch was kinda shitty but at least it came fast.

Eurostar was pretty comfortable with a 2 - 1, layout and there were charging ports. What it lacked was WIFI. We finally reached Venice at 7pm. Checked into Allogi Gerotto Calderan. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was like a hotel room! They even had room service for the price we paid.

Headed down our hotel to Trattoria al Brindisi (Sestiere Cannarogio). Had awesome vongole!! But cos of the 12% service charge, this meal turned out to be the most expansive of all. :(
I guess after a series of unfortunate events, luck decided to come to our side by showing us the way to a rock festival with a band covering The Rolling Stones. Had lots of beer and .....
