26 Aug: A glimpse of what cold will be like...

okay finally settled accounts. 130am and its time to blog. the guys are skyping with yeggy now. The day started off with the stupid morning cathedral bells ringing in my dreams, dragging me out of stage 4 REM sleep causing me to feel sleepy the whole day. Finally the day where all weather forecaset said it would rain around europe arrived. It drizzled in the morning, luckily the rain stopped by the time it was time for us to head out for brunch.

Venice kind of cooled down today and it felt really comfortable walking around. In search of cheap food, we chanced upon a seafood fritters shop, Frito-inn (Campo S Leonardo). Kind of cheap, a whole box of calamari and fish for 7 Euros. Pretty chill day today, walked around the Cannaregio district till we ended up at Ponte di Rialto. Found Grom on the way! haha. too bad the weather was abit cooler today if not I would definitely get some. After walking around for an hour, got bored and decided to head to the other islands. We actually thought of taking the bus to the F.te Nuove station till a nice italian uncle told us to take 2 stops down to Ca' d'Oro and walk. Really took advantage of the 72hr pass today. Took to Murano, where the clouds cleared off and it got super hot. Pretty boring there, nothing much before looking at pretty glassware forged on that island.

Next up, Burano (wonder where all their imagination went to when naming these islands. i thought ventians were v artsy people), 40min journey combined with the humid weather was a killer combination for a siesta. The moment you step out of the bus stop, you'll be greeted by a blast of colours from the houses, each having a different shade of colour. You'll never find 2 houses with the same colour beside each other. It was such a picturistic place that we spent longer than expected going around taking stupid shots here and there haha. met vernon's girlfriends there, chinese students from leeds uni. oh yah and did i mention i forgot to bring my camera batt out today. omgggg. entry to toilets cost 1.50 euros here too. like whutttttt!

okay so here's where the action really starts. As we headed back towards Venezia (the main ventian island... and just fyi, Venice is made out of 113 islands), really dark and menacing black clouds started rolling in our direction and before you knew it, when we reached Murano station enroute to Venezia, it poured. It was so freaking heavy that we could hardly see Murano island from Venezia when we docked. Not only it was heavy, it was shit ass cold. Screams could be heard all around when gusts of wind landed slaps of wet chilly waters onto the people at the bus stop. I did not know what the commotion was about till i jumped out of the boat, thinking that a little rain wont kill me. But i tell you, the rain coupled with the 20km/hr wind really got you freezing. It was quite a scene to see everybody huddled together in the bus station trying to stay out of the arc of fire of the wind. I tell you it was colldddddd. finally after abt 20-30mins, the rain subsided and we made our cold journey back to our hotel.

I think this is just a glimpse of what it's gonna be like in Glasgow, with the frequent showers and gusty winds. Gonna dieeeeeee! Its quite amazing that with such showers, it could actually bring the temperature down by 10 degrees! from 28-18 degrees 0,0. wow! Time for some sweaters! Seriously, sweaters for a Mediterranean summer? But guess what came after the storm. RAINBOWS! a double rainbow infact. and also a Pastel coloured sky as the golden hour dawned. and again, i forgot to bring my camera out. dangggg.

Walked around to find dinner and finally settled in at Taverna Da Baffo. Seafood Spagetti & a plate of mussels were om nom nom material! I must say, although its a little bit chilly when the wind blows, it was dam nice to walk around venice.

okay im falling asleep already. tmr we head for vienna on the night train. see if got wifi there. ciao!
